826 Boston

826 Boston, founded in 2007, is a nonprofit youth writing and publishing organization that empowers traditionally underserved students ages 6-18 to find their voices, tell their stories, and gain communication skills to succeed in school and in life.

Modeled after university writing centers, the nonprofit supports students through after school programs with tutors and writers at no cost. There are over 300+ tutors that assist students with schoolwork and writing.

826 Boston also runs summer programs and writing boot camps that help students with college essays as well as professional writing necessary for applying to jobs. Some students in the program return to show continued support for the mission and serve as volunteers, speakers, or events committee members.

Funding from the Carole C. Remick Foundation supports 826 Boston Writers’ Rooms inside public schools. 826 Boston serves 5,000 students each year with programs that amplify their voices and help them express their ideas effectively, creatively, and confidently.
