Christmas Carole Donation will become a tradition at the Remick Foundation

Carole was born on Christmas Day. Friends used to call her Christmas Carole! Two weeks before Christmas an idea came to the Director, Mary Kaye Leonard. “At the end of 2020, organizations needed funds more than ever. It was a tough year and it was finally over. Why not end it with a positive initiative that will surprise someone and make their 2020 end with hope. In honor of Carole’s birthday, we started a Christmas Carole Donation and divided $10,000 between several organizations”

Mary Kaye researched and identified smaller organizations that seem to align with the foundation’s mission. “It was an exciting week calling the recipients that week before Christmas. What a present”.  The foundation has decided to continue this tradition every year. On to 2021, a year filled with hope for sure.

Here are the 2020 recipients of the Christmas Carole Donation.

Schools on Wheels, Easton MA This organization provides backpacks and school supplies to students living in shelters or homeless in 38 communities in Massachusetts.  Their Bridge Mentoring Program provides 57 high school and college-age students with a volunteer mentor, who shepherds students through high school and onto post-secondary plans, including college, vocational training, and jobs. http://www.sowma.org
